An After Nursery Outing

Despite what people may think it doesn't always rain in North Wales. We do get times where it feels like we're stuck with constant rain, but this past week we've been lucky and had such lovely weather. Whilst driving home after picking Osian up from nursery the other day, I decided to take a little detour and go to a village nearby. The village sits right by sea, so has a lovely beach, two play parks, a walk to a nature reserve and a pond full of ducks. I'd been told Osian had eaten two whole portions of lunch and all his afternoon, so we didn't have to rush home to cook tea as he'd only eat a little snacky tea.

We spent so much time next to the pond watching all the ducks, which seem to be Osian's favourite animal at the moment. He kept shouting quack quack at them, and doing some arm gestures, I'm not sure if he were hoping one would fly or duck their heads under water. We kept moving around the pond, one of the swans looked like he was coming towards us, and I didn't fancy risking being close to one.

After promising Osian we would come back to see the ducks we went for a lovely little walk along the top of the beach. May people were out for walks with their dogs, Osian loved watching them walk along, and would point them out saying 'woof'.

I was a little apprehensive about going somewhere with so much water and not taking reins or the pram, but I told Osian he got to walk if he held my hand, and would otherwise get carried. To begin with he got carried a fair bit, but he suddenly seemed to grasp what I was saying and held my hand the rest of the time. He would ask to get carried if there were too many people, or if someone came too close to him. When we'd walked quite far from the pond and the path had become quite safe I thought Osian would like to run about, but he just decided to sit down and told me to sit. We sat there for quite a while, Osian was amazed by the little bits of sand on the path. As far as I'm aware it was the first time he's seen sand, he loved playing with it, until all of a sudden he hated the feel of it between him finger.

Osian was having such a great time, he wasn't happy with the idea of leaving. He waved goodbye to all the ducks before leaving. I don't get many opportunities during the week to take Osian places, so even though we weren't out for all that long I really enjoyed it.

I thought it would be a nice opportunity to get a picture of us both together, but it was too sunny for successful selfies.

  6. This looks like a fab way to spend an afternoon, there's no better way to wash away a few hours than to stroll by the seaside in my opinion. I love that Osian decided to just sit down when he was given free reign. It's cute how he decided that actually he didn't like the feeling of the sand between his fingers. Thanks for linking up with me on Country Kids.
