A Gluten Free Easter Treat

Even though I'm still waiting for test results I do try to eat mostly gluten free foods. I have a very sweet tooth, and it is so hard to find gluten free treats I actually like. I'm not too keen on the gluten free cakes and biscuits that I've tried so far, and apart from Easter Eggs themselves I haven't seen any gluten free Easter treats, so I decided to make something I knew I'd like.

When I first started eating gluten free foods, to my surprise I very quickly found a cereal I liked. Nestlé have brought out Corn Flakes, and Honey Corn Flakes, I think they're quite new. Due to my sweet tooth I usually buy the honey ones, but decided to buy to plain corn flakes to make some cakes.

I'd never made chocolate corn flake cakes. I knew they'd be pretty simple to make, but I didn't know quite how simple. It only took 6 minutes to make them:
  • 2 minutes to melt the chocolate in the microwave, stopping halfway through to mix.
  • About a minute to mix all the corn flakes in.
  • 3 minutes putting the mixture in the cases.
Then I put them on the side and left them for a few hours to set. I went to check on them every now and again. It took about 2 hours for them to set.

A little tip for anyone who hasn't made them before, you won't need half as much chocolate as you think you'd need. I bought two big bars of chocolate, but only ended up using half a bar to make six cakes.
