Dr Brown's Breast Pump, Storage Bags and Tray Review

You may or may not know that Osian goes to nursery for a morning once a week. I'm having trouble expressing enough milk for him so I've found the best way is to freeze small quantities and defrost a few together.
I was recently sent a few products from Dr Brown's to test out. I was sent a Manual Breast Pump + Feeding bottle, Storage Bags and Storage Tray.

I tried the best pump on quite a few occasions but it did not work for me. However, it's the fourth one I have tried and none of them works. I am obviously just not made for expressing.

Although it didn't work for me I found it very easy to put together with no fiddly little bits. It's easy to wash and it's also a good size to hold. The handle on the pump is smooth to hold, and the movement is gentle, as it uses Gentle Compression Technology. The breastcup is designed to move with Mum while she expresses, which leads to extra comfort. Included with the breast pump is a 4oz feeding bottle. I don't really know much about bottles, but from what I can tell it seems like a good one. Dr Brown's feeding bottles are designed to reduce colic, and offer babies a more comfortable feed.

The breast pump was already assembled together in the box. The whole pump is very lightweight, so combined with the smoothness of it, it wouldn't be uncomfortable to hold if needing to express for a while. There was a lid included too, meaning if need be the whole pump can be unscrewed and replaced with the lid. This means that it can be stored in the fridge and taken back out for more expressing later, or to store until your baby's hungry.

Although I can't express milk using a breast pump I do get small quantities of milk through hand expressing, but nowhere near enough for Osian to drink in one go. Therefore I need to freeze the small quantities and defrost quite a few together.

That's where the storage bags have come in really handy.

The bags can hold up to 6oz of milk and they have a label on the top to name and date the bags. There are two seals so I highly doubt the bag would ever leak, especially as the bags are extra thick. I was very impressed with the thickness, a really good quality bag.

I also received a storage tray, which can be put in the freezer. The bags fit perfectly inside the tray, there are 6 slots, meaning most people would fit 6 bags inside, but mine are so empty I can fit a fair few in each slot.

Overall I am really impressed by all the products, if expressing worked well for me I would definitely opt for this breast pump, which can be bought from John Lewis. To see Dr Brown's full range of products visit their website http://www.drbrowns.co.uk/
