Scotland 19th - 24th of April

You may or may not know that we travelled to Scotland in April. It was our first trip as a little family. We mainly went to visit my Granpa, because it's too long a journey for him to come down and visit us. We were away for 5 nights, spending 3 in Scotland and splitting up the journey to and from Scotland by staying overnight halfway. Well not exactly halfway, on the way up we stayed in Carlisle and on the way down stayed in Preston. Deciding to get most of the driving done on the first day of travelling. Thought it would be nicer for Osian to have two half days in the car, and could take long brakes, rather than one full day.

As well as visiting my Granpa, we visited all my other family members which live in or around Edinburgh. On the Sunday (the first day we got to Scotland) my Aunty threw an Easter egg hunt party. Meaning all my family on my Mum's side were there. Which was handy when we were up for such a short time, but had so many people to see. The weather was lovely and sunny, a perfect day for a Easter egg hunt. We were served a lovely 3 course meal, and there was a hug table set up outside so we could eat whilst enjoying the sunshine.

Osian also had is food outside. I think his hat is a little too big!

On the Monday we went to my Aunty's house on my Dads side of the family. She cooked us a lovely Easter meal, my Granpa came for lunch too. It was lovely to see them all. It was still lovely and sunny, so in the afternoon, the three of us decided to go into Edinburgh town. We just went for a wonder around the shops and sat on the grass near Princes Street. It was really busy, think it was a mixture of the sunshine and a bank holiday.

This is where we sat.

Princes Street doesn't look so busy in this picture.

'Garden of Light'

On the Tuesday, the sun had disappeared and the rain came along instead. We had some time in the morning so we decided to go to the National Museum of Scotland. The museum was great, there was a space section where there was a darkish room with lots of little fairy lights, which Osian absolutely loved. He also loved the Animal World section. We bought a little Elephant teddy for Osian from the museum shop as a souvenir. We only had about an hour in the Museum, because I was going to cook lunch at my Granpas. It would have been nice if we could have gone another time too, because there was so much to see. We didn't mind not having much time at the museum because it meant we had more time to spend in my Granpas. Although I didn't make anything special for lunch I think he quite appreciated his lunch being cooked for him. We stayed for a little while after lunch, it was really nice to see him. After leaving my Granpas we then went to meet my one of my Aunties on my Mums side again, she with her Grandaughter - Osian's second cousin. We were going to go for a walk or something, but the weather was horrible so we ended up going to her house.

Osian in the museum.

Then that was the end of our time in Scotland. I haven't included our travelling days because we didn't do all that much, just spent hours in the car, or walking around service stations. I had a lovely time in Scotland, and loved seeing all the family. I hope we can go again sometime soon.
