A few months ago whilst browsing in a shop I found a little box. The box had baby designs on it, and from that moment onwards I've wanted a box to keep Osian's keepsakes in. I've got lots of little bits and bobs I want to keep and wanted somewhere nice to keep them. A combination of forgetting sometimes and not finding one I liked meant I still didn't have one months later. Until yesterday, when I received this gorgeous box through the post.
I was kindly sent a keepsake box from Freya Design. Freya Design was founded by a Swedish Woman, Marie Ekerholm. Scandinavia has a long tradition of making wooden furniture and wooden interior designs. They make many different types of boxes such as sewing boxes, trinket boxes, money boxes and many more. Freya Design's main concern when sourcing their materials is the environment.
Their website is very user friendly and is easy to see their whole collection of products. I choose their blue photo box, from the Baby section. All of their products in the baby section come in a choice of blue or pink, along side the box I received they have a choice of a larger photo box, two sizes of a keepsake box with pram design, a set of three trinket boxes or a money box. The lovely box I received is 24x21x10cm and can hold a 6"x4" photo. I thought a newborn photo of Osian would suit this box well, and decided to use a black and white one, because I thought it would go nicely with the box.
The keepsake box is made from solid wood, which you can tell by the fantastic quality. A lightweight but very sturdy box. It has been painted by non-toxic paint, as are all their boxes. The beautiful design is quite simple and it looks so lovely. The inside of the box isn't painted, it says on their website it's to retain the natural smell of the wood. I think it's nice looking having the natural wood. The box is beautifully made, and finished really well. It's lovely and smooth, even the corners are smooth. The lid is closed with a smooth hinge that is very easy to open and close. The box has been personalised with Osian's name and date of birth. I really love the plaque which has the name and date, I think it's placed really well under the picture. I couldn't ask for a nicer keepsake box.
Overall I think the box is perfect, I do not have one bad word to say about it, just plenty of nice things. Although I don't think my photos do the box any justice, it is so beautiful that you really need to see one in real life! I think this box would make a lovely gift for new parents, or to buy for yourself for your baby's keepsakes.
