Waterbaby

For months and months Osian absolutely hated the bath, I wrote a little post about it when I had not long started blogging. If I could go back to when I was writing that and tell myself I would be writing this post I wouldn't believe myself. It took months of trying different things but finally Osian didn't scream the house down whilst he was in the bath, which you can read about here. When writing that post I thought Osian was enjoying the bath, in hindsight he was just really tolerating it. We tried taking him swimming around that time and he hated it.

Over time things have defiantly changed as he now LOVES the bath!

I used to give him a bath in the mornings because it was his happiest time of day and he wouldn't mind the bath. Once I realised Osian was actually enjoying himself in the bath I thought I'd try switching his bath to evenings. It was a long shot but I was hoping it might keep him happy for a while before bed as Osian can get quite grumpy in the evenings, but doesn't sleep well if he goes to bed earlier than 6. Osian was being quite wingy whilst I was running his first evening bath and I was beginning to wonder if this was a good idea. The second his feet his the water he was full of smiles. He had a long play in the bath, and has had a bath most evenings ever since.

Last week we took him swimming again. As I said earlier he hated the first time we took him, but that was back in March. Before going I wasn't sure what Osian was going to be like. I was hoping he would enjoy it as much as he'd been enjoying the bath, I couldn't see why he wouldn't. But at the back of my mind I had visions of it being as bad as the first attempt. From the minute we got into the pool Osian absolutely loved it, he was having so much fun. He was splashing for absolutely ages, with the biggest smile on his face. I really wish I had some pictures of him in there. I really can't wait to take him again, he had so much fun, and I loved watching him enjoy himself. I'm hoping swimming is going to be a weekly thing for us to do now.

So Osian is now a little water baby, rather than the little water hater he started out being.

  1. WOW what a turn around! He has done so well because it can take a long time for babies to enjoy the water. I'm sure you are loving bath times and swimming as much as Osian now x Ax

  2. That's great news. Babies change and develop so quickly that it's not surprising he changed his mind about both the bath and the swimming pool. Lovely photo.

  4. I am glad he is loving bath time now. That was a very clever idea thinking about what time of day he was happiest and then trying it.
