Real Nappy Week Day #2

Yesterday we tried GroVia Hybrid which is a nappy shell so you will need to use either disposable or cloth soaker pads to go inside the shell, which is great for preventing leaks with heavy wetters. We received a 2 pack GroVia Organic Cotton Soaker pads, they are very absorbent and are machine washable. The disposable pads are called 'Bio Soaker Pads' which are made from harvested wood pulp fibres. The pads are easy to put in place, there are poppers on the inside of the shell and on the outside of the pads, so you simply pop them together and there your nappy is ready. The shell won't need washing every time, if the nappy has been filled then yes definitely wash it but if it was a soggy nappy then the pads will need replacing but the shell can get used a few more times. It's a great way to slightly cut down your washing. The thing I like about this nappy is I think it would be quite easy for when we're out and about especially if we use the disposable pads. Once again I like how easy it is to get the sizing perfect, the tightening around the waist is once again Velcro style and this nappy also has poppers running down the front which allows the size of the nappy to be changed. We used this nappy yesterday over nap time and for a bit before and it lasted well with no leaks. I didn't think I was going to like any of the two piece nappies, but to my surprise I quite like this one and think it works really well.

Smartipants was the first nappy we tried. It is a pocket nappy with two openings, so we firstly place the Smart Sleeve into the pocket in the nappy. I can now say after using a few pocket nappies it was the easiest to place. You have a choice of 14 different colours, we received 'Fire Engine Red', I love the brightness of the colour. This nappy closes with poppers and the two sides can overlap if you need the nappy to be that small. Once again it is a one size nappy and also has the poppers down the front to change the size. The nappy is designed to fit the approximate of 7lb up to 35lb The nappy is easy to wash, it does not require soaking, nor do you need to remove the sleeve as it comes out itself in the wash! Simply throw the whole nappy into the washing machine and the rest is done for you. The nappy can be dried on the washing line or in the tumble dryer on low heat. Smartipants has been designed with 'Leak Guard Technology' which helps to prevent leaking from the legs of the nappy, and keeps moisture contained so it should feel nice and dry for your baby. I think this was a good nappy for us to use for our first cloth nappy, it's really simple to use, although I do prefer the Velcro style fastening I managed to get the perfect sizing with the poppers.
