Swimming

As I said in my post on Friday about the bath, we decided to take Osian swimming for the very first time this weekend. Our local swimming pool has a rubbish baby pool, it's way too deep and it would be very awkward climbing the metal stairs they have whilst holding a baby. So we decided to go to a pool that's about 30 minutes away, I had been there once when I was younger but I couldn't remember.

So off we set, I had this horrible feeling the whole way there that something had been forgotten but luckily we had everything we needed. I hadn't been to this pool since I was way too young to remember and didn't really know where I was going but I managed to find it no problem,  which I was quite proud of.
We got ourselves ready and headed to the pool. I must say Osian looked super cute in his little swimming suit, unfortunately we didn't manage to get a very good picture, so will have to try next time. Being a Sunday morning the pool was really busy. We have recently discovered Osian doesn't really like loud noises, so this wasn't going to sit well with him. Firstly we just sat next to the pool and he was okay, looked a bit startled by all the noise but was quite content. Then we tried dipping his feet in but he wasn't keen on this and he started pulling the face he does that signals a cry. But he only let out a few whinging noises, he was then okay for a few minutes. Then he decided he didn't like this and started crying but the pool was so loud I couldn't really hear him, could only tell by looking at him. Then someone went running past and he got splashed in the face, he definitely didn't like this. So we headed back to the changing room and he very quickly calmed down, so we thought we'd try him once more. Well if anything he liked it even less than the first time!
We decided to admit defeat and go get changed and go to the cafe. When we were getting changed Osian didn't quite seem himself so think we chose a bad day to take him swimming.
So overall Osian wasn't too keen on swimming, but I might try and go in the week one day so hopefully it'll be quieter and he might like it a bit more. Hopefully it's just a case of getting him used to it like it has been with the bath. If Osian does end up enjoying swimming we hope to make it regular thing.

I decided to write on the blank Baby Milestone Card. As you can see I don't have the neatest of writing and I wrote 4 on the month instead of 3, so that's why the dates a big mess!

Since it was a lovely sunny day we decided to go for a walk before heading back, the swimming pools right next to a park, which is a lovely place for a walk around. I just carried him around the park instead of hauling the pram in and out of the car just such a short walk. The park had a playground, paths for a walk, and an ice cream kiosk. There used to be a little water area where you could go on pedalos but it was all dried up, not sure if it's permanently dried up or if it is just until the summer months. The parks also near the beach but we didn't walk down that far and thought it might be a bit chilly right next to the sea.
Although swimming wasn't a success we did have a lovely day. I do hope this nice weather lasts so we can have some more nice days out in the sunshine. Unlikely though seeing as it's North Wales, but I can live in hope!

Someone wanted to drive us home!

  3. My two are now 2 and 4 and love going swimming, they didn't like the noise at first but got used to it and are now fine, we do drive to a warmer quieter pool about 25 mins away rather than the nearest which is freezing!
