Baby Milestones

On Thursday I was so excited that Osian rolled over from his belly to his back for the very first time. This got me thinking about baby milestones, and how easily I could of missed it if I'd just turned away for a second. I really hope I don't miss any of his firsts.

I have no idea if this is the average age for him to do this, or if he's behind the average or ahead. In all honesty I don't know if I want to know. Of course I want to know if he's developing properly and would like to pick up on if there are any problems, but I just don't like the idea of comparing him to a statistic. I don't know if I'm just being funny or if other mothers feel the same. I just think he'll start to do everything in his own time and when he's ready to. While I'm sat thinking about it now though I have found myself asking others when their baby did what, but that is usually about when they started sleeping through the night (I miss my sleep!). I'm undecided if I will read up about it or not. I would hate to hear myself say "the books say he should be doing this and that by now"
I honestly don't know if these are common feeling that parents have or not. But this is just my personal view on the matter.

I will write down when he can do what, because I think it will be nice to look back on, and know exactly when he did each new thing.

Before the big roll!

  1. So true! You want to know that they're on development points but also you don't want to be a show off! So hard to find the right balance. You just have to accept they do things in their own time - My daughter was quite quick and crawling by 6 months but my son who is 8 1/2 months hasn't rolled back to front or crawled yet... And he's very frustrated! But he does other things like give me kisses! But it's certainly worth documenting them all because you forget so quickly what they did and when and it is important!

    1. Exactly! I also want to enjoy wbat he's doing at the moment and not constantly looking towards to next thing.
One of the handy things about blogging about him is that it's going to all be documented here :)
